Weather Advisory Summary for Today

• The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an Orange Alert for heavy rainfall in Jammu and Kashmir, in effect until 2:00 PM IST. This covers many districts, including Jammu itself, and warns of intense heavy showers, plus the risk of cloudburst, flash floods, and landslides.

• Additionally, a Flood Alert (Orange) remains active until 5:30 AM IST on Tuesday, August 26, particularly for districts like Doda, Kathua, Kishtwar, Samba, and Udhampur, where moderate flash flood risks persist.

• News reports today also confirm that the IMD warned of heavy rains and potential flooding across Jammu & Kashmir, reinforcing the critical nature of the situation. 

• In some districts like Kishtwar, local authorities have activated control rooms and help desks to assist the public amid continued rainfall, flash floods, and landslide threats. 

• Furthermore, the Jammu Division has canceled school classes in both government and private schools for August 25, due to the adverse weather conditions.
